No one gives because it’s December 31.

They give because they were asked.

Because they care deeply about something you care about too.

Because they’re feeling reflective in those quiet days between Christmas and New Year, taking stock, and thinking about what matters.

They give because they’re overflowing with gratitude about how good their life is and want to share that abundance with someone else.

They give because they’re furious about the injustice you’re working every day to address.

Or because they saw a child’s face, read a story, remembered their own grandmother, or couldn’t stop thinking about what you told them six months ago.

They give because giving feels great, because generosity is one of the most deeply human things we do.

They give because December 31 is one last chance to do something good before starting fresh… to end the year well. To vote with their dollars about the kind of person they want to be.

So if you’re sitting there right now, and you’re hesitating over your year-end emails…

If you’re worried about “bothering” people…

If you’re tempted to water down the ask because you feel weird about it…

Stop.

Most people aren’t sitting around waiting for December 31 to give, but they do care. They might be busy. Or distracted. Or thinking about it but haven’t gotten to it yet.

And sometimes?

They just need someone like you to invite them into something meaningful.

The calendar doesn’t move hearts.

Do you know what does?

Connection.

Story.

A clear, honest, compelling ask.

And an invitation to end the year by doing something good.

When you send those year-end emails, you’re not begging. You’re offering someone the chance to do something beautiful with their resources.

So send the emails.

Pick up the phone and make the call.

Send the text.

When you do?

Be direct. Be warm. Be human.

The people who care about your cause?

They’ll know exactly what to do.
